(Nov 5) Revival for the Weary

"The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple." Psalm 19:7

We live busy lives that are not easy. The demands placed upon us all take a toll. Being married is a joy, but not without its occasional struggles. Raising children is rewarding, but it can bring about exhaustion. Serving in ministry is a privilege, but not one without its scars. Every one of us understands the weariness that can result from the pressures and deadlines of this world.

In a word, we often become...weary. We wonder, sometimes, can I do one more load of laundry? Can I survive another week of shuffling children to school, practice, and games? Do I have the strength to work another 40-50 hours this week while dealing with everything everyone expects of me? Again, the world can leave us...weary.

We must come to the Word of God the way a thirsty man approaches a surprising spring in the desert. We need to be revived. The psalmist said the law of the Lord is perfect and revives the soul. The Bible is more than a textbook; the Scripture is nourishment to our soul. The Word of God is bread for the hungry, water for the thirsty, courage for the fearful, direction for the lost, peace for the anxious, and rest for the weary.

In a world where everything seems unstable, the Bible is steady. God's Word is constant and sure. It is in the deep study of the Scriptures and meditation upon them that the simple man is made wise.

So, run to the Bible. Sit down and immerse yourself in the perfect, soul-reviving Word of God. Be fed by the sure, wisdom-producing truth of the Bible.

Do you find yourself feeling weary today? Could it be that your soul is in need of being refreshed and revived? I do not know what you are facing today, but I do know where you can find hope and renewal. Paul said it this way: "though the outer man is wasting away, yet the inner man is being renewed day by day." David put it like this, "The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple." Be renewed and revived today.
